Quick answer

NASA FCU’s terms and conditions contain funds-availability rules, so a held check should be diagnosed by deposit channel, check type, notice/availability date and any exception rather than a generic credit-union estimate.

Published rules for this service

NASA FCU’s Member Services Agreement limits its standard funds-availability disclosure to checking accounts. For other checks deposited in person, the first $275 of the day’s aggregate is available by the next business day and the remainder by the second business day, subject to exceptions. A deposit at a NASA-owned ATM after noon is treated as received the next business day. The first 30 days have separate new-account rules. Longer holds require a notice giving the availability date; use that notice rather than applying the standard schedule to an exception or remote deposit.

Decision path

Receipt/notice shows future availability date → use that as the working date. Remote deposit → check the remote-deposit section as well. Date passed → contact NASA FCU with the deposit record and notice. Exception hold → preserve the reason and availability date.

What to do next

Save receipt and any hold notice. Compare available balance with posted/ledger balance. If the institution changes the availability date, keep the updated notice for any escalation.

Important limits

Do not say every NASA FCU check is available next day. Do not use remote-deposit rules for branch deposits. Do not interpret limited CFPB public data as evidence that holds are uncommon.

Rules and service limits can change. Use the linked agreement for your account and the notice shown for this transaction; if they differ, ask the institution to explain which provision applies.

Hold evidence checklist

Keep deposit channel, date/time, check amount, receipt, available balance, hold notice/reason and promised availability date. If remote deposit was used, check the remote-deposit section in NASA FCU’s terms in addition to general availability provisions.

FAQ

Do these standard check schedules apply to a new account? The agreement has separate rules for the first 30 days. Does an ATM deposit after noon use the same deposit day? At a NASA-owned ATM it is treated as received the next business day.
